Let's start off by telling you guys a little bit about myself. My name is Arya Paige, and I am a entrepreneur who's life is music. The Hopeless Kreative is a combination of both my art businesses Hopeless Dreamer Photography and Arya's Beautiful Kreations. So through out the entirety of this you will see snip bits of both my anime art and the music photography. We will take a deep dive into the music that speaks to my soul, whether it is local talent or they are known world wide. You'd seriously be surprised at what hidden gems could be in your town. Also, want to hear music suggestions from you guys no matter what the genre is. Let's expand our playlists together and let this universal language bring us closer. Music saved me in my darkest of times, and I think those are the artists we will begin with. Starting from the ones who introduced me to the punk/alternative world to those who helped me survive my own mind. Green Day MTV 2004
I remember back then I was watching MTV back when it was mostly music videos and seeing this song for the first time. Honestly, thought the name was green bay for so long, it never really clicked until MTV played it again. I became so obsessed with this style and began listening to Papa Roach, Avril Lavigne and many more amazing artists. Those two stuck with me the longest though and are still some of my favorite artists today. Papa Roach was actually introduced to me the following year by my cousin. Scars was a song that resonated deeply with me with everything that was going on at the time. I really felt the lyrics deep to my core, especially when Jacoby Shaddix said "My weakness is that I care to much, and my scars remind me that the past is real." It feels like that when you care to much that you are more prone to being broken. Even though the scars are invisible to most they are there. They bleed from time to time, but no one can see them but me. That invisible pain that everyone tells you that doesn't exist because you have this or that. You feel swallowed by the emptiness... no one believes you. Is it all in your head? Why in the hell do I care so much?? Such a young child listening to this and analyzing it in ways she shouldn't be, but she felt that these strangers knew her better then she knew herself. They understood exactly what she was feeling, she wasn't alone. As she grew older she finally met those guys she idolized for years to come and they were everything she expected. So cool and kind. It was such an amazing feeling to just talk to them and get to know the musicians behind the music. Almost got through the whole meeting without fan girling.... well that was until tickets were given. I squealed like a little school girl almost knocking Frank Pain down. It was a very laughable moment, and I wonder sometimes if they remember that awkward little high schooler.
Oh let's not forget the queen of this genre Amy Lee from Evanescence. When I was in elementary The Boys and Girls club was holding a talent show in which I decided I would try to learn and memorize the full song My Immortal. That song was so deep and so beautiful that I couldn't imagine doing something else. She has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard and the way she just hits those notes is beyond admirable. My Immortal was one of those songs I have clung onto up into my adult years. There are times that you will see me on Smule trying to match my voice to hers. Just the delivery and emotion alone in each one of her songs is one of the reasons I love music so much. It's artists like them that aren't afraid to show their vulnerability. There is always something for us to connect with and be able to bond over. Till this day I hope to be as good as a singer as her. She will always be my idol, and their songs will always be a huge part of my playlist. What is your favorite Evanescence song???
As the clock gets closer and closer to 1 AM, I will close out with one of my favorite artists from none other then Nashville, TN. Framing Hanley. How came across them was actually quite ironic. I made it my goal every morning to be caller Number 8 on Rock 108, and managed to win some CDs. Well, their album The Moment happened to be one of those CDs. Oh man. When I put that CD into my CD player, I fell head over heels. Talk about a band that sings with everything in them. Each song was beautiful executed to create this album. It's pretty likely I've listened to that thing literally over a million times. So naturally when they came to Abilene, TX I had to go to their show. I had to see them in person to see how they performed live, and they did not disappoint. In fact, Nixon was actually sick when he had to perform that night and I was amazed at how much of his soul he poured out onto that stage. It's one show I will never forget especially when they took my song request, it was one the normally didn't play because it was about an old fling. But, little middle school me was jumping up for glee when they played Slow Dance. They were literally some of the nicest most down to earth people I have ever met. I hope one day that opportunity will rise again. So many bands we grew up with are touring again and being a part of festivals it's incredible.
There are a TON of amazing festivals going on this year. Between So What?! Festival in Arlington to ShipRocked cruise. There are so much amazing things involving music, so if you are music fanatic like me I highly suggest download Bands In Town. It keeps you update to date with your favorite artists and will help you find hotels close to the venues, its a really great app to have. With that I must end this blog with a good night and leave me your band suggestions. I'd love to hear them and here is the last video of the night.
